Independent R&B Discussion Group — Automation Special 4

Posted on 24/02/2023 by Malcolm

The fourth and final session of our “Automation February” workshops was on Thursday 23/2/23.

We had two final speakers

Jon Gibbs

  • Product Strategy Director, Civica
  • Civica Case Study
  • Jon.gibbs@civica.co.uk
  • 01635 264220

Malcolm Gardner

  • Director, Visionary Network
  • Decision Bias and Automation
  • 07946800171
  • malcolm@visionarynetwork.com

Jon gave a great presentation on automating processes and an indication of the savings that can be made.  This session gave real clarity on what could and should be done to reap benefits from the automating the mundane and repetitive.  This is shopfloor automation.

Malcolm (yes that’s me, again) looked at decision bias, and how that plays out within automated decision making. Especially as it has several risks for both the decision makers and customers.  As they say, to err is to be human, but to err on an industrial scale you need a computer.

I made a brief last word on the subject with some examples of what is possible in the AI arena.  We will do another session later in the year to see what is happening in this field.

I am appreciative to the speakers for their time and informative presentations.
