Revenues & Benefits Discussion Group 20/2/23

Posted on 21/02/2023 by Malcolm

This Monday’s Discussion Group gave some feedback on how year-end had been going. We also debated the job market and specially figures that were showing that some 9 million workers had disappeared from the jobs market. Many taking early retirement but a significant increase in long-term sickness.

We also examined retail sector job and store losses and what that means for Revenues and Benefits. We will pick up on free school meals next week.

The last session in our Automate February series is on Thursday. 11-12:30.

This week we have:

  1. Malcolm Gardner, Visionary Network– Decision Bias in RPA
  2. Jon Gibbs, Civica Case Study

Last week’s session we had Zoe Charlesworth and Daniel Pearce on using UDS for benefit take up and a great TelSolutions case study.

In the slide pack there is some other news worth checking out and also, I included some HR case law worth knowing. They cover redundancy (specially pools of one), poor attendance due to disability and whether you can access employees’ WhatsApp messages when they are using work equipment.

Can I remind you that the three benefit calculator companies, EntitledTo, Ferret, Policy in Practice have asked for copies of your 2023/24 Council Tax Scheme, so they can update their calculators. The calculators are available to be used by any household, from anywhere in the country. Therefore, it is in the interests of your citizens to share the updated schemes with them. If you email the schemes to ctr@visionarynetwork.co.uk we will distribute them to the three companies.

Do not forget there is still time to get your CTR scheme redrafted into clear and simple language and orders before end of March will get a 20% discount. Contact malcolm@visionarynetwork.co.uk.
